This illuminated Agate nodule from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil has been drilled and lighted with a night light bulb. It gives a warm glow to a dark corner or can be used as a unique night light. This agate displays its color that has been dyed to resemble amethyst.

Agates are most commonly found as nodules within the cavities of volcanic rocks. These cavities are formed from the gases trapped within the liquid volcanic material forming vesicles. These cavities are then gradually filled in with silica-rich fluids leached from the volcanic material. Layers of agate are deposited on the walls of the cavity slowly working their way inwards. Nodules that do not become completely filled with agate or quartz are called geodes.

Size: 5.5” x 4.5” x 4”, Weight 5.4 lbs
